The transition from office to home working was easier than I had expected but strange initially, as I decided to move back home rather than continue living alone as I knew I would want company. Other than the location, not too much changed for me within my team as we simply replaced our usual team meetings with virtual ones enabling us to plan for the week and arrange our workload.
Maintaining the culture
Across the whole firm, I feel that a good job has been done in maintaining the culture and lines of communication we would see in the office under normal circumstances. It’s great to see how people have made the most of the lockdown period with the cake baking, photography competitions and team quizzes.
Regular communication with clients
Supporting clients through this period of economic uncertainty and change poses new challenges but fortunately technology makes it much easier to communicate regularly with them the options they have and hopefully this is something we will continue to take advantage of moving forwards. I am also grateful to the small number of staff who have spent time in the office to enable us to continue working for our clients in as normal a way as possible.
I look forward to returning to the office, but I know that we can continue to be effective should this situation arise again. On a personal level, I have appreciated the time spent with my family.
