Will Da Costa

Insolvency Investigations and Forensics Manager

Will Da Costa is an Insolvency Investigations and Forensics Manager on Mercer & Hole’s Restructuring and Insolvency Services team. He brings with him extensive experience in forensic accounting, financial investigations, and expert witness support.

With a background rooted in Biomedical and Brain Sciences, Will began his forensic accounting career in 2016 at Alvarez & Marsal, working across disputes, investigations, and several specialist internal teams – including Transaction Advisory and Financial Industry Advisory Services. He also completed an external secondment to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), further strengthening his regulatory insight.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Will joined K2 Integrity, where he focused on complex financial investigations. His work spanned asset tracing, internal investigations, and a wide range of forensic accounting assignments across multiple jurisdictions.

Will has developed strong expertise across forensic accounting and internal investigations. His work includes asset‑tracing enquiries and cross‑border financial investigations, often involving the review and reconstruction of complex bank statement activity and fund flows. He regularly undertakes financial data analytics and has experience in fraud, bribery, embezzlement, and misappropriation investigations, providing objective assessments supported by clear evidence.

Will also contributes to expert witness matters, including the quantification of damages and detailed financial reporting and disclosure assessments. His work frequently involves reconstructing financial transactions, analysing cryptocurrency activity, and conducting source‑of‑wealth reviews where clarity and rigour are essential.

Based in Mercer & Hole’s London office, he works with a diverse client base, including private individuals, shipping and media companies, banks, and organisations in the oil, gas, and mining sectors.

Will particularly enjoys the variety his work offers and the opportunity to engage with complex, often fast‑moving assignments. He believes that exceptional client service is built on honesty, personal connection, and acting with integrity – ensuring that conclusions are objective, defensible, and grounded in evidence, even when they may challenge preferred outcomes.

Within the firm, Will works closely with Dominic Dumville, Henry Page, and the wider Restructuring and Insolvency team. He is also a qualified Mental Health First Aider and is passionate about contributing to Mercer & Hole’s Wellbeing initiatives.

Outside of work, Will enjoys training in Krav Maga, following Formula 1, reading, and taking his dogs for long walks.
