Thoughts from the 2013 congress in Paris

Culture, understanding and etiquette are key to negotiation and business relations, according to keynote speaker, Marie-Christine Vabre of Chanel.

Continuing the communication theme, Professor Bob Wessels emphasised the development of cooperation guidelines in relation to the European Insolvency Regulation, its revision and global principles in his discussion of trends towards out of court restructuring and away from formal insolvency in Europe and the USA. Increased levels of secured debt, more complex capital structures, distressed debt trading and minimal residual asset values are all factors driving these trends.
