Steve is a highly experienced Corporate Advisory Partner, who works across all four of Mercer & Hole’s offices in London, St Albans, Rickmansworth and Milton Keynes. He specialises in corporate restructuring and designing business financial and operational reorganisation strategies for owner-managed businesses, including demergers and corporate splits. He has advised on restructuring Limited Liability Partnerships. Steve focuses on business development and reorganisation, promoting their successful transformation, growth and turnaround where appropriate.
Steve is also a General Practice Partner. With his knowledge and practical experience, Steve understands the interests of clients, providing them with tax planning and strategic advice. He takes his role seriously to find solutions, which create opportunities for clients.
Steve is also a licensed insolvency practitioner and will evaluate commercial strategies, enabling clients to retain control, raise finance or investor monies if required, avoiding an insolvency process whenever possible.
Steve works closely with our Corporate Finance and Corporate and Business Tax teams, advising on business acquisitions, sales and refinancing. Most reorganisations and restructuring gives rise to a tax cost and tax planning is an essential part of the process. Steve focuses on maximising tax planning opportunities when developing strategic plans.
Steve is experienced in advising clients working across a variety of sectors, including engineering, construction, retail, professional practices, services, IT and not-for-profit.
Steve joined Mercer & Hole early in his career. He left for a three year spell with Price Waterhouse and was appointed a Partner with Mercer & Hole in 1983. He obtained his insolvency practitioners’ licence in 1986.
In his leisure time, Steve enjoys walking, spending time with his family and watching Arsenal FC.
