Caroline is a Chartered Tax Adviser and holds the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioner (STEP) qualification. Caroline is based at the Milton Keynes’ office, where she advises on Inheritance Tax (IHT), income tax and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) as they relate to family trusts and deceased estates. Caroline prepares accounts, sees to the administration of estates and undertakes planning for the next generation.
Caroline takes a problem-solving approach to her work for her clients; helping them to fulfil their planning objectives, whilst managing cashflows and meeting the needs of the beneficiaries. She enjoys reporting back to families on their annual accounts and explaining them so that they are well understood. She also enjoys the evolution involved in trusts work, as the legislation changes and trusts need to adapt, but also seeing young family clients grow up and start the next generation of savers and spenders.
Caroline joined Mercer & Hole in 2003, originally working in personal tax, before moving to the firm’s Trust team in 2004. Prior to Mercer & Hole, Caroline worked In Trusts at Deloitte, before moving to a small firm in Cambridge, where she gained her first qualifications whilst working in personal tax.
Outside of work, Caroline enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter. Together, they spend a lot of time baking and particularly enjoy geocaching, a pastime they take on holiday and city breaks. Caroline also appreciates classical musical, whether listening to it at home or being captivated by a live performance.
