Caroline Valentino

Caroline Valentino is a Trust Director, a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser, and holds the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioner (STEP) qualification. Caroline is based at our Milton Keynes office, where she advises on inheritance tax, income tax, and Capital Gains Tax as they relate to family trusts and estates.

Working closely with local solicitors, Caroline helps clients who have new or overlooked tax obligations, governance issues and administration matters that need clarification. To solve these problems, which can be niche, Caroline liaises with HMRC and draws upon the strengths of the reputable team she has helped to build in our Milton Keynes office since returning to Mercer & Hole in 2007. Caroline was promoted to Trust Director in 2025, and the team now comprises various skilled individuals, all benefitting from Caroline’s dedicated approach to mentorship.

Taking a problem-solving approach to her advisory work for her clients, Caroline helps them to fulfil their  IHT objectives, with an eye on cashflow limitations  and meeting the needs of the beneficiaries. She also enjoys the evolution involved in this work, staying up to date with legislative changes and the ways in which clients need to adapt their plans, as well as seeing young family clients grow up and start the next generation of savers and spenders.

As a member of STEP, Caroline is keen to promote the development of quality services in the profession and has taken the role of Treasurer for the Beds, Bucks, and Herts branch, as well as contributing to the firm’s internal quality assurance standards.

Outside of work, Caroline enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, whose passion for hockey is supported by the whole family. Caroline spends any other free time she gets tending to a wide array of fruits and vegetables on her allotment.
