Balbor works in Mercer & Hole’s St Albans office providing specialist tax planning advice to support businesses throughout their growth journey. Focusing primarily on Mercer & Hole’s continued delivery of high-quality tax compliance work, Balbor provides valuable input on the more complex areas of Corporate and Business Tax required to support the firm’s client base.
Working at both corporate and shareholder level, Balbor helps clients to minimise their tax liabilities through effective planning whilst maximising claims such as capital allowances. She also provides tax advice in relation to group restructuring, group rationalisation, deals with international tax aspects including certificates of residence and the application of double tax treaties. In addition, Balbor assists clients with the complexities of corporate interest restriction and hybrid mismatch regulations and particularly enjoys the challenges of supporting UK businesses with international expansion plans or non-UK businesses coming to the UK.
One of Balbor’s greatest strengths is her ability to forge strong working relationships with her clients. She takes the time to truly understand the operations of the businesses she works with so that she can provide effective and robust long-term tax advice. She takes a pragmatic approach and prides herself on being able to explain complex tax issues in simpler terms.
Balbor became Corporate and Business Tax Partner in February 2024 where her extensive experience adds strength to Mercer & Hole’s established Corporate Business Team. Having initially trained with Grant Thornton, Balbor has over 30 years of tax experience in the entrepreneurial space, looking after the tax of individuals, partnerships and companies. After working at Mercer & Hole prior to 2019, Balbor then joined RSM where she has gained a wealth of additional experience dealing with larger corporates and international groups in terms of tax compliance and advisory matters. She has also worked at Mazars LLP where she gained extensive experience of dealing with corporate and business tax issues in relation to owner-managed businesses ranging from the small start-ups to large enterprises and groups of companies both domestic and international.
When she isn’t working, Balbor enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching films and has rediscovered her love for playing badminton.
