Mercer & Hole’s Liz Cuthbertson presents on ‘Changes in UK Tax Legislation’ in the Isle of Man

Mercer & Hole Chartered Accountants’ Private Client Partner, Liz Cuthbertson has presented on the ‘Changes in UK Tax Legislation,’ at Burleigh Manor in the Isle of Man, on 28 March 2017.

Liz presented as a guest of Browne Craine, an accountancy firm based in The Isle of Man, who, like Mercer & Hole, are a member of TIAG (The International Accounting Group), an alliance of independent accounting firms which have over 120 member firms in over 70 countries.

During the presentation, Liz gave her expert insight into the new Inheritance Tax (IHT) regime for non doms owning UK residential property and how these changes are likely to affect Isle of Man Trusts. She also discussed ownership structures in relation to the changes.

Browne Craine Senior Associate, Stuart Foster said “Liz’s presentation was very interesting and informative. Ever since the 2015 summer budget announced a number of changes to the UK taxation of non-domiciled individuals and residential property, it was clear some of our clients were likely to be affected. Liz’s knowledge and expertise is highly sought after so it has been incredibly useful to spend the day with her. I’d like to thank Liz on behalf of Browne Craine and all our guests for taking time out of her busy schedule to come to the Island.”

Liz provides tax planning for wealthy UK and international individuals and their families. She advises on issues of residence and domicile, particularly where clients are moving to the UK and require effective structuring of their affairs both in and out of the UK. Liz also advises offshore trustees in relation to offshore structures and the tax issues affecting UK resident beneficiaries. Additionally, she advises on Inheritance Tax and effective succession planning for family wealth. Liz is involved in cross border advice and works with TIAG in relation to that.
