Mercer & Hole dish up lunch to the elderly
Partner, Lisa Spearman led a team of volunteers from Mercer & Hole Chartered Accountants to serve lunch to the elderly at Finsbury & Clerkenwell Lunch Club on 26 May 2016.
Lisa, who specialises in Private Client work, was joined by Victoria Batten and Hana Abid from the firm. Between them, they dished up a hot meal to over 20 members of the club and then spent time chatting to them, finding out about their lives and the positive impact of the Finsbury & Clerkenwell Volunteers charity.
The Finsbury & Clerkenwell Lunch Club provides an opportunity for the elderly people in South Islington to meet up with friends. The club, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, relies on volunteers to provide a warm and friendly meeting place for vulnerable elderly people. Finsbury & Clerkenwell Volunteers support and befriend elderly people offering social, emotional and practical support as required. The team of volunteers also provide telephone contact, transport, shopping trips, holidays, day trips and other activities. A respite service is also offered for carers.
Speaking of Mercer & Hole’s involvement with the charity, Lisa said: “We really enjoyed helping out at the Finsbury & Clerkenwell Lunch Club and meeting everyone there. It is abundantly clear that this service makes a lot of people happy and encourages friendship amongst those who might otherwise live isolated lives. We are delighted to have worked with the charity and to have supported its great work.”
Throughout the year, Mercer & Hole are assisting a number of charities and good causes in the communities which are local to their three offices in London, St Albans and Milton Keynes.
