Mercer & Hole bolster Business Services and Private Client Tax Services teams with senior hires
Chartered accountancy firm, Mercer & Hole have strengthened their Business Services and Private Client Tax Services teams with three new senior hires.
Ross Lane has joined the firm as General Practice Partner. Ross specialises in providing audit and accounting services to a wide range of businesses, including those which are listed and privately owned. He has experience of advising clients operating in many sectors including Technology, Retail, Transport, Logistics, Hotels, Media and Broadcasting. He has particular expertise in technical accounting standards, including IFRS and UK GAAP. Having gained his experience in both practice and industry, Ross is able to offer clients insightful and commercially focused advice, coupled with technical expertise.
Having originally trained with KPMG, Ross spent over 12 years with the firm. During this time, he worked with a wide range of audit clients, assisting many of them not only with their annual audits but also with transaction services engagements, including mergers & acquisitions and stock market transactions. Ross spent the next five years as the Group Financial Controller of a market leading FTSE 250 Group, overseeing the internal and external financial reporting process, implementation of a global finance system as well as leading and developing the wider Group Finance function.
New Senior Tax Manager, Alison Palmer, has joined the firm from Rawlinson Hunter’s London Private Client Tax team. Having qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser with Mercer & Hole several years ago, Alison re-joins Mercer & Hole’s London office where she advises clients on all taxation aspects of their financial affairs. This includes Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning, the use of trusts, offshore matters and claiming applicable reliefs. In particular, she has an interest in residence issues and the taxation of foreign domiciliaries.
Also joining the firm as a Senior Tax Manager is Chris Hadley, who is based at Mercer & Hole’s St Albans office. Previously with Harwood Hutton, Chris is qualified as both a Chartered Tax Adviser and a Trust and Estate Practitioner. In 2012, he was recognised as the Accountants & Tax Practitioners Diploma Student of the Year, sharing the coveted award with Mercer & Hole Private Client Partner, Helen Price.
Mercer & Hole’s Senior Partner, Paul Maberly, said “We are delighted to welcome Ross Lane to the partnership. His experience, technical knowledge and commercial acumen will be of real benefit to our clients.” Private Client Partner, Gill Tallon commented, “Both Alison and Chris have that special combination of skills which is so important in dealing with private clients’ affairs. They have proven technical experience and can relate to what matters to individuals and their families on a practical level. We are proud to announce their addition to our already strong Private Client tax team.”
