Take 5 with Mansel Turnham, Tax Director

Mansel Turnham joins from Anglotech Group, a B2B technology company, where he was its Finance Director. He is re-joining Mercer & Hole, having worked as a senior tax manager between 2016 and 2018. He is an experienced tax practitioner and brings back to the firm client-side experiences from a large technology business. We Take 5 with him to learn more about his interests and aspirations.

1.What is your approach to corporate and business tax?

I like to gain an understand of each client’s business and the business owners’ goals. This allows me to get to grips with the key tax issues they face, identify tax saving opportunities to provide proactive advice.

2.What gives you most job satisfaction?

When I’m able to help a client achieve their goals, especially when it involves providing a bespoke solution or finding a solution to a complex problem. I also enjoy helping staff in the team develop their skills and knowledge, allowing them to progress in their careers.

3.What is your biggest career achievement?

Guiding a business through the Covid pandemic and securing £3.5m of loan finance under the CBILS scheme.  This allowed the group to refinance its existing debt in full and operate through the pandemic.

4.How would you describe yourself in three words?

Determined, Pragmatic and dedicated

5.What is your favourite hobby?

Tennis – both playing and watching
