Every year, Pancake Day means one thing for our team members in St Albans, Rickmansworth, and Milton Keynes… the Charity Pancake Day Races!
This annual event always gets a great turnout, and for good reason – it’s a fantastic way of to have fun whilst giving back and supporting local charities that operate in our communities.
The races see teams of four compete in heats against other local organisations. Each team member runs one lap with their frying pan and pancake, does a risky flip, and then passes the frying pan over to the next team member.
And this year was no different. Our teams raced for their place in the final, and for the ultimate honour of being crowned Charity Pancake Day Race Champions 2025! But, more importantly, this fantastic event is held each year to raise money for great causes.
Today’s events in St Albans, Rickmansworth, and Milton Keynes raised funds for these three incredible charities: Watford MenCap, Home-Start, and The Parks.
We are pleased to support Watford Mencap, an independent charity that provides support and services to people with a learning disability and their families in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere. They work to enable people with learning disabilities and their families to make the most of life.
One of the other charities supported is Home-Start. Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support who help families with young children through challenging times. Families struggling with a wide variety of issues receive the support of a Home-Start volunteer helping them in the ways they need. Home-Starts across the UK also support families in groups, hold day trips and Christmas parties and help families to access local services.
And finally, our racing efforts will also be raising money for The Parks Trust, an independent charity that maintains and develops over 6,000 acres of beautiful and inspirational green space in Milton Keynes. They help to look after parks, ancient woodlands, lakes, river valleys and 80 miles of landscaped areas along the city’s grid roads.
For the Charity Pancake Day Races 2025, our teams were made up of:
- Robin Edwards, Lewis Hart, Tobi Laguda, and Robert Alcock in St Albans
- James Wilding, Mark Calin, Jacon Harker, and Joshua Martin in Rickmansworth
- Ross Baldwin, Liam McCrohan, Lucas Denny, and Lewis Ford in Milton Keynes
From the beginning, the competition was fierce, and our teams raced with enthusiasm. We are proud to share their incredible results…
Our St Albans and Rickmansworth teams both secured a very respectable 2nd place in their races, and our Milton Keynes team raced their way to 1st place! Congratulations to Ross, Liam, Lucas, and Lewis for their impressive victory.
While we are, of course, delighted with the results of the races, we are even more delighted to support amazing local charities, who will all benefit from the funds raised.
We’d like to thank everyone involved – the participants, organisers, and volunteers – for making it such a fun and memorable day.
We can’t wait to join the fun again next year and continue to support such great causes!
