We are pleased to once again be the headline sponsor of The Taylor Trek, the flagship fundraising event organised by Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust in partnership with Rennie Grove Peace Hospice. This marks our fourth consecutive year supporting this fantastic initiative, and a cause that is deeply meaningful for our team and our community.
We spoke to Martin Coulson, Tax and Business Advisory Partner, about his experience getting involved with the event:
“I walked The Taylor Trek with my two sons last year, aged four and six, and it was a great day out for all of us. We got the chance to chat with legacy players, players from the academy, and other fans. The event has such a fantastic, family-friendly atmosphere, and is a great opportunity to support an organisation that shares the same values as we do at Mercer & Hole, with a very similar community feel.
Not only is it good fun for the participants, but it’s also for a great cause – raising money for two amazing charities doing really important work. Whether you sign up as an individual, a team, or a family, I’d recommend anyone to get involved!”
Taking place on Sunday 12 October 2025, The Taylor Trek is a unique charity walk that invites participants from across the local area to come together in celebration and remembrance. Starting and ending at Vicarage Road Stadium, the walk honours the incredible legacy of Graham Taylor, Watford FC’s most iconic manager and a proud patron of both benefitting charities.
As a firm rooted in the community, Mercer & Hole has seen first-hand the positive impact this event delivers – both in the funds it raises, and in its positive atmosphere and family feel.
About our sponsorship of the event, Jo Upshall, Audit and Business Advisory Partner at Mercer & Hole, shares:
“We are thrilled to be sponsoring The Taylor Trek again in 2025. This fantastic event, now in its fourth year, means so much to us, supporting two important charities in our community. It’s great to see the event grow in popularity year on year. We are so pleased that we made the decision to get involved when it first launched back in 2022. We haven’t looked back since, and we can’t wait to take part again with all our friends and families.”
This year there are three route options for participants, catering for all ages and abilities – everyone is invited to take part:
- Family Route (3.5 miles): An accessible, family-friendly route, perfect for all ages — and even four-legged friends.
- Medium Route (8.3 miles): A moderately challenging walk for those wanting a mix of exercise and Watford FC history.
- Challenge Route (18+ miles): A serious trek for those ready to push themselves while visiting every key site from Graham Taylor’s Hornets legacy.
Not only will participants get to enjoy complimentary refreshments and a pitch-side finish, but they will also receive a commemorative medal, exclusive Taylor Trek merchandise, and the chance to meet special guests.
Through our continued partnership, Mercer & Hole is committed to championing the work of Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust and Rennie Grove Peace Hospice, ensuring Graham Taylor’s legacy lives on in a way that makes a real and lasting difference.
