We are proud to announce that Mandy Bagot, Director of Virtual Finance has been recognised as one of the Top 50 Women in Accounting by Ignition. This recognition is particularly meaningful given the scale of the competition: 1,258 nominations from 29 countries, with 847 unique nominees. From this exceptional pool, a judging panel selected 50 women who exemplify leadership, innovation, and the spirit of change.
This year’s awards theme, ‘Catalysts of Change’, perfectly captures what Mandy and her fellow honourees represent. Recognising their achievements shines a light on the transformative power of leadership, innovation, and mentorship within the accounting profession.
Reflecting on her journey, Mandy shared, “I would say never to stop learning and keep developing your knowledge, especially with regard to digital solutions and systems. Attend as many software events as possible! I’m now approaching 60 and throughout my 42-year career as an accountant and entrepreneur, I have always believed in empowering women, especially women with children, by giving them the skills and tools to make choices. Many people were surprised that I was a woman (and a mature one) leading these digital projects, and I have built up a reputation as a known expert in the cloud software and apps marketplace. Recently, I was invited to be a panelist at Intuit QuickBooks’ session on AI at Accountex, which was mentioned in AccountancyAge.”
Mandy’s dedication extends beyond her professional accomplishments. She has been a role model for women with children, balancing a demanding career with her responsibilities as a mother and now as a grandmother. “When I was younger, I worked full-time as an Associate Director with two children under three years old. Today, I am a grandmother to two grandchildren and still work full-time because I love my job! I now assist with the school run two nights a week, it means a lot to me to have this work life balance which Mercer & Hole provides to all.”
