We are delighted to announce that Mercer & Hole is a finalist for Accountancy Firm of the Year in the prestigious Citywealth Magic Circle Awards 2025. Not only have we been shortlisted as a firm, but we are equally thrilled to announce that our very own Private Client Tax Partner, Jo Bateson, has also been shortlisted for Accountant of the Year in the same awards.

It is an honour for Mercer & Hole to be shortlisted for the Accountancy Firm of the Year, having been selected by an independent panel of judges, alongside firms such as EY, Saffery, and Blick Rothenberg.

Over the years, Mercer & Hole has evolved into an organisation led by 26 partners with a team of over 250 people, working across four offices in Rickmansworth, London, St Albans, and Milton Keynes.

Accountant of the Year finalist – Jo Bateson

Having rejoined Mercer & Hole as a partner last year, Jo is an experienced and committed private client advisor. She specialises in providing robust and personalised tax advice to wealth creators, families, and their family offices, family businesses, and onshore and offshore trusts. Jo thoroughly enjoys being able to use her insight and expertise to help clients to navigate the ever-changing tax environment.

Over the years, Jo has been recognised for her hard work, skill, and dedication to her clients. She has won many top industry awards including eprivateclient’s ‘Top 35 under 35’, Management Today’s ‘Top 35 under 35’ and Tax Journal’s ‘Top 40 under 40’.

Jo’s insight and experience is valued highly in the accounting world. She has authored many articles, spoken at conferences, and provided tax commentary for the media. Her skills and knowledge have also led her to become a trustee of Philanthropy Impact whose aim is to increase philanthropy amongst the wealthy. In addition to this, Jo sits on the tax technical committee of the British Business Angels Association and is a judge of the PAM Awards.

It is a privilege to be a finalist in the Citywealth Magic Circle Awards, and it is a huge achievement – for us as a firm, and Jo Bateson as a professional. To be shortlisted for Accountancy Firm of the Year and Accountant of the Year reflects how we go over and above for our clients.
