As soon as you arrive you get hands on with both work and with college. I sat all six of the ACA e-assessments before Christmas and began the learning for the first three written papers soon after.
The work has a good variety of accounts preparation jobs in the office and going out to clients to perform audits. I found this variety really helped as a good basis towards my exams.
I was also given the opportunity to spend three months working in the Corporate Finance department in the London office. This was a great experience as I got to work with clients in different ways than I would have in Audit and feel I learned a lot in this time. During this time I assisted on company valuations, company sales, due diligences and expert witness reports.
I have also enjoyed the social side of Mercer & Hole, having played in 5-a-side football matches and cricket matches against other firms.
I became ACA qualified in 2016 and was promoted to Audit Manager in 2018. Over the time I have been at Mercer & Hole, I have moved onto larger and more complicated work and have found the progression challenging without being impossibly difficult.
I’m really glad I chose Mercer & Hole and am looking forward to a long career here.
