Updated Code for the Voluntary Community sector released
An updated version of sector has been released. The success of the first version has prompted creation of the new and updated version. The aim was primarily to ensure that it is clearer and easier to understand for a wide range of voluntary and community organisations. The focal point of the updated code aims to understand why good governance is necessary, and making it meet the needs of organisations therefore avoiding a ‘tick-box’ approach. In order to effectively implement the revised code, research has been conducted in a variety of areas to incorporate learning from the original code and the relevant needs of its users. The main areas of research to aid with the formation of the updated code were:
* Learning from the economic downturn.
* New thinking of Governance.
* Discussions with experts and code users.
