Help for Academy Trustees
The charity commission has developed a new online tool to help trustees of academies. It is an introduction to charity law for governors of academies, foundation and voluntary schools.
Academies can be exempt from regulation by the Charity Commission; however, their trustees have the same responsibilities as registered charities.
This new tools summarises trustees responsibilities and explains where further information can be found. As David Butler chief executive of the Parent and Teacher Association explains it will ‘serve as a starting point for inexperienced trustees.’
