Converting to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
On 1 April the Charity Commission (CC) issued draft regulations for open consultation which would mean that certain charitable companies (chc) and community interest companies (CIC) are able to convert to CIOs.
The consultation includes details of exactly which chcs and CICs could convert and which can’t and the CC have stated that it is a simple process. The consultation also sets out a provisional timetable for the phased implementation. The consultation period is from 1 April 2016 to 10 June 2016 and details can be found at https://www.gov.uk/.
