Charity Commission Operational Guidance

The Charity Commission produces a range of Operational Guidance for its staff and in order for the Charity Commission to continue with its policy of carrying out it’s work as openly as possible these Operational Guidance are to be published online via the Charity Commission website.

The guidance is a wealth of information on different aspects of managing and running charities and is an ideal aid for trustees. Operational Guidance covers the policy and practice of the Charity Commission which is based on charity law.

The Charity Commission is currently in the process of updating the format in which the Operational Guidance are currently available, in the premise that a new format will make the information more accessible. During this period the Charity Commission has alerted users that they will be able to see some original and some ‘new format’ Operational Guidance. The Charity Commission has also pointed out that if users have bookmarked particular Operational Guidance as ‘favourites’ these may need to be updated.

In most cases, the law and policy have not been altered, but when an Operational Guidance is reformatted then the Charity Commission has taken the opportunity to review it and make any necessary updates.
