Daniel McCloskey, Senior Audit and Accounts Manager, provides the answers to some of the frequently asked questions about outsourcing and how the team helps to support our clients.

1. How does the Mercer & Hole team support clients?

A. Our team helps clients by providing them with a wide range of outsourcing services covering bookkeeping, monthly or quarterly management accounts, payroll and VAT returns.  The team provides a first line support to clients, answering ad-hoc questions on a timely basis, training clients to use different software packages and takes pride in offering an excellent service. We also assess which of our clients would benefit from cloud accounting and get them ready for Making Tax Digital (MTD). We offer a cost effective, timely, reliable, insightful and flexible service.

2. What software packages do you use?

A. With our professional accounting expertise we are partnered with QuickBooks, Xero and Sage, and we are well placed to help you achieve the ambitions you have for your business.

3.What is your service offering?

A.We offer three ‘off-the-shelf’ packages to minimise the cost of managing your finance functions. These are Gold, Silver and Bronze. We also offer a bespoke platinum version. All your needs can be met by talking to us and by finding the right solution to meet your outsourcing needs. Our packages are competitively priced and are tailored to your requirements. We believe that our packages will offer value for money for your business no matter where you are in your company lifecycle.

4. Can you give me a real-life example of how outsourcing has benefited your client?

A.We had an international client, with a subsidiary based in the UK, who found it challenging to wait for month end reports and wanted a snap shot view of the business in real-time.

We looked into the client’s needs and found a solution for them by switching their accounting package to a cloud based system. The result of this enabled the client to have real-time information rather than waiting for their month end reports to be produced.

The client can now login remotely, anywhere, and at any time and view their current financial reports of their business. Any concerns can be dealt with instantly.

The benefit of moving this client to a cloud based accounting package saved them considerable time and expense, and cut their transactional time for processing data by as much as 50%.
