Less time to claim
You should know that the deadlines to send in any claims are changing from six to four years.
The deadlines are particularly urgent if you are a Self Assessment taxpayer and have a claim for the 2004-05 or 2005-06 years that you have not yet made, such as pension contributions or Gift Aid.
The new deadlines are:
Tax year Deadline
2003-04 year 31 January 2010
2004-05 year 31 March 2010
2005-06 year 5 April 2010
2006-07 year 5 April 2011
2007-08 year 5 April 2012
2008-09 year 5 April 2013
This is not good news for taxpayers, particularly when times are tight. It is important, therefore, to make sure everything is up to date.
