EC steps up its efforts on avoidance

The European Parliament is to form a committee to investigate states’ tax rulings (going back to 1991!).  It will also review the way they treat receipt of state aid and the extent to which states are transparent on tax rulings.  Additionally the committee will look at the negative impact of ‘aggressive’ tax planning on public finances.  From all of this it should come up with recommendations for the future.
