Tom Dinwiddy

Based in our St Albans office, Tom Dinwiddy is our Chief Operating Officer. Tom is FCA qualified and has a strong commercial background in both industry and practice. With a strong understanding of the finance and accounting needs of businesses at different stages of development, Tom also enjoys using his experience of leading teams and implementing business and finance strategy.

With expertise in group reporting, financial planning and analysis, treasury and cash flow management, establishing financial processes and controls and systems implementation and improvement, Tom brings a wealth of experience to the role.

An aspect of the work that Tom finds the most satisfying is supporting the development of other team members, providing insight and analysis to senior management teams, and increasing the efficiency of processes. Working alongside the wider partnership as well as other operational areas of the firm, Tom ensures that our operations are geared up to allow for the best possible service to be provided to clients.

Tom qualified in practice in 2004 and joined Mercer & Hole in 2019, having spent 13 years in industry in various finance roles. These include being the Group Financial Controller of two listed Groups, having been through the IPO process for both.

At Mercer & Hole, Tom held the position of Business Advisory Director, including leading our Virtual Finance team until 2023, before becoming Finance Director in 2024 and Chief Operating Officer in 2025.

Tom is also heavily involved in Mercer & Hole’s crucial sustainability drive – one of our key areas of focus and a significant priority for the firm.

Outside of work, Tom is kept busy with his young family. He also enjoys sport, particularly cricket and football, and travelling.
