Phil joined Mercer & Hole in 2007 from a senior role in industry and was made a partner in 2012.
He looks after a wide portfolio of business clients, working closely with them to provide hands on advice across a wide range of areas to meet the needs of the business. With experience dealing with start-ups, growing businesses, medium sized enterprises and subsidiaries of multinational corporations, Phil has a special interest in the food and agriculture, manufacturing, construction, logistics and information technology sectors from his time in industry. This background gives him good practical experience of the issues faced in today’s business environment, combined with good technical knowledge.
Having gained valuable experience of the Corporate Finance world from a client perspective, Phil also provides advice on all Corporate Finance matters and his commercial insight is particularly valued by clients in this area. His expertise includes MBOs, MBIs, business valuations, financial due diligence assignments and the acquisition and disposal of companies.
Phil originally trained in practice before moving into industry where he developed his strong commercial and analytical skills whilst holding a number of senior finance positions. This included responsibility for computer systems, forecasting and management accounts and he gained detailed knowledge across a number of sectors. In these roles he also had involvement with a number of related family businesses including farm based enterprises where he developed close links with the agricultural sector.
Outside of work Phil enjoys spending time with his family and two young children and is a keen cyclist and classic car enthusiast.
