As a general practice partner Paul Maberly has worked with many business leaders, helping them to grow their companies and succeed. Paul has experience of working with businesses across a wide range of sectors, including media, publishing, IT, recruitment, financial services, childcare, healthcare, construction, manufacturing and retail. He includes UK subsidiaries of overseas parent companies, SMEs, owner-managed businesses and partnerships among his clients.
Paul’s area of expertise is his ability to combine sound commercial advice with tax planning for businesses, that in the case of owner managed businesses delivers the personal objectives of the individuals involved. Paul acts for many family-owned businesses and he is experienced at responding to the specific challenges of those who mix business with family life.
Paul particularly enjoys advising clients participating in MBOs, MBIs and the acquisition and disposal of companies. When working on transactions, Paul has provided strategic advice, assistance with raising finance, financial due diligence and business valuations. In addition, Paul is a member of Mercer & Hole’s forensic accounting team and he has prepared a considerable number of expert witness reports, where litigation is involved.
Paul became a partner of Mercer & Hole in 1990. He joined the firm in 1987, having trained with a top 30 firm in London.
Paul is married with three children. He enjoys playing golf and visiting the gym when his leisure time allows.
