Mercer & Hole’s Lisa Spearman to speak at ICAEW webinar on FATCA, Friday 26 September

Mercer & Hole Private Client Partner, Lisa Spearman is speaking at an Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) online webinar on the Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), from 10am – 11am, on Friday 26th September.

Lisa will be speaking about FATCA and how that will affect those in public practice, trustees and other professionals responsible for looking after other people’s money. The webinar will provide an insight into what steps will need to be taken to be fully compliant with FATCA.

If firms, or trusts are Financial Institutions defined for FATCA purposes, action will need to be taken to register with the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and additionally returns will need to be made to HMRC.

Lisa Spearman and fellow speaker, George Hodgson, Deputy Chief Executive, Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) will cover:

FATCA and what it means in practice
What is a ‘Financial Institution’ for FATCA purposes?
Registering with the IRS
Consequences of not registering with the IRS
Reporting to HMRC
Changes that you will need to make in the way you run your practice
The timetable for FATCA

They will also be answering questions posed.
