Michael Lockyer is the Managing Partner of M&H LLP, trading as Nightingale Associates*.

Michael has over 20 years experience of successfully advising clients on financial services matters. During this time he has advised quoted businesses and their main board directors, private companies and their owners, and individual private clients and their families.

While some of Michael’s clients are household names, Michael believes strongly that everyone should be entitled to affordable, high quality financial advice and entered his industry aiming to achieve this goal. In 1993 Michael established his own business, Nightingale Associates Independent Financial Advisors, whose clients, from all walks of life, benefited from Michael and his team’s focus on establishing lasting relationships built on trust and shared objectives.

In 2008 Michael decided to develop his vision further by selling his business to Mercer & Hole.

Michael holds the Chartered Insurance Institute Pensions Transfer Specialist qualification.

Michael is married and has three children, and enjoys spending time with his family at his holiday home in Spain. Michael is a qualified motor racing driver and has competed on circuits all over the UK in the 2009 Fun Cup endurance race series . He is also a rock climber and is a regular visitor to the Himalayan region, where his most recent conquest was Ama Dablam.

Anne McClean is a senior financial adviser with Nightingale Associates*. Through providing a thorough, informed and professional service, Anne aims to provide her clients with financial stability and peace of mind in the short, medium and long term.

Anne’s experience spans advising the owners and directors of SMEs, senior personnel within large blue chip organisations and individual private clients. She takes time to understand her clients’ needs, demonstrate her understanding and explains options in a straight-forward, jargon-free style.

Her areas of specific expertise include pensions advice around the building of assets, identifying retirement objectives, quantifying shortfalls, implementing investment strategies and ongoing reviews. In addition to advising on accumulation of assets, Anne helps clients understand and select the most appropriate options at retirement to secure their desired level of income, taking into account other considerations such as inheritance tax.

Anne is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Planning and she is a Diploma member of the Personal Finance Society.

Before joining Nightingale Associates in 2009, Anne was with Alexander Forbes, and before that, with Barclays Wealth.

Anne is married and enjoys scuba diving holidays with her husband.

Rachel Gooda

Rachel Gooda is a senior financial adviser with Nightingale Associates* and offers financial planning and wealth management services to clients seeking financial independence now and in retirement. Rachel understands that the accumulation and management of capital, and the ability to provide for future generations, often feature high on her clients’ agendas.

Rachel enjoys working with other specialist professional advisers in order to provide a complete service and streamlined financial strategy to deliver her clients’ goals. She is a strong believer in comprehensive financial planning in preference to product led sales advice.

For her business clients Rachel acts for both owners and their staff. For owners she assists with tax efficient profit extraction and business protection. For the business and staff she designs, communicates and implements employee benefits programmes to assist with the recruitment and retention of staff and their reward.

Rachel has achieved advanced diploma status with the Chartered Insurance Institute and is also an associate member of the Institute of Financial Planning.

Before joining Nightingale Associates, Rachel worked for two years with Alexander Forbes Financial Services, and prior to that, with Baker Tilly Financial Services Ltd.

Rachel is an accomplished athlete in her spare time and has run the New York marathon. Rachel enjoys gallery and theatre-going, and also holidaying in Devon for its fresh air, surfing and coastal walking.

Jeremy Goodwin

Jeremy Goodwin, as a senior financial adviser with Nightingale Associates*, provides high quality, independent financial advice to a broad range of clients from all walks of life. His focus is to develop close relationships with his clients over the long term, so he is best placed to understand his clients’ requirements and goals. Jeremy regularly assesses his clients’ financial arrangements to ensure they provide an optimum level of return and personal reward.

Jeremy particularly enjoys advising on pensions and his range of expertise includes advising trustees in relation to small self administered schemes (SSASs), on group personal pensions and individual retirement planning His specialist knowledge of investments comes to the fore in connection with inheritance tax planning.

Jeremy advises business clients and has set up life, critical illness and income protection policies for many, with various objectives in mind including inheritance tax planning, as well as key person and shareholder protection plans.

Jeremy holds the Financial Planning Diploma of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Jeremy joined Mercer & Hole as an independent financial adviser in 1997. Prior to that, he was a self employed financial adviser for two years, following periods with the Inland Revenue and Ernst & Young.

Jeremy enjoys travelling, including his several trips to Africa, and gardening, playing the piano and walking. He is an active member of his church, where he often plays the organ.

Steven Harris is a financial adviser with Nightingale Associates*. His objective is to develop close relationships with clients over the long term, so they may enjoy a consistent service with an adviser and organisation they trust.

Steve advises participants in many of the group personal pension schemes Nightingale Associates administers and particularly enjoys working with individual clients on their retirement planning. He has set up life, critical illness and income protection policies for many individuals, advising his clients so they might achieve a range of ambitions and financial goals.

A holder of the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Financial Planning Certificate since 2000, Steve has also been awarded their mortgage advice qualification (MAQ).

Steve joined Nightingale Associates in 2006. Prior to that he worked in financial services for CIS, part of the Co-Operative group.

Steve enjoys travelling and spent two years exploring Australia and New Zealand.

Liz Hopkin

Liz Hopkin is an adviser with Nightingale Mortgage Services Ltd**, a mortgages expert, she has over 20 years experience of working in this field.

Liz qualified as a financial adviser and decided to specialise on providing mortgage advice. She has recent experience of sourcing and administering commercial, residential, buy-to-let, equity release and foreign home mortgages for her broad range of private and business clients.

In addition to advising and arranging mortgages, Liz offers a property search service, which allows her clients to benefit from Liz’s broad range of contacts within the property industry.

Liz joined Nightingale Mortgage Services in 1996. Before then she worked for Capital Home Loans and for some time ran her own mortgage brokerage.

Liz shares her husband’s interests in golf and fine dining. She has one daughter and adores spending time with her and her grandson.

Garry Picker is Nightingale Associates’* senior researcher and product specialist. He has a deep understanding of the range, features and application of financial products in the market today.

Garry supports his adviser colleagues by providing regular updates on financial product launches, products’ features and most appropriate applications. Garry also provides detailed assessments of products’ performance in real life scenarios, where he assists his adviser colleagues select the best products for their clients.

Garry holds the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Advanced Certificate in Financial Planning, the Advanced Diploma in Insurance and the Certificate in Life and Pensions.

Garry joined Nightingale Associates in 2002. He was with Sun Life before this and while there he worked on pension schemes and supported general sales, before providing support to broker consultants in their dealings with financial advisers. Garry was with Noble Lowndes prior to this.

Garry is married and has one son. In his spare time he supports Arsenal Football Club and enjoys playing cricket, golf and the guitar.
