Mercer & Hole volunteer at Willen Hospice
Willen Hospice is the latest beneficiary of Mercer & Hole’s ’25 Acts of Kindness’ campaign, which celebrates the silver anniversary of the firm of Chartered Accountants having an office in Milton Keynes. Partner, Phil Fenn and tax colleague, Sam Griffiths lent a hand in one of the hospice’s charity shops, sorting donations and serving customers.
Willen Hospice provides specialist palliative care and support for those affected with life-limiting illness, both at the hospice in Milton Keynes and within the community. The hospice has 11 shops which raise funds through the sale of donated items, seven of which sell general goods such as good-quality clothing, bric-a-brac and games & toys, plus three furniture stores and a bookshop.
Phil and Sam got stuck in to their duties for the day and learnt about how the money raised by donations funds the good work of the hospice, which serves three Primary Care Trusts – Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. As well as offering adults specialist symptom control, the hospice also offers emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.
Mercer & Hole worked with The Milton Keynes Community Foundation to identify a number of charities and community groups within the Milton Keynes community who would benefit from the firm’s involvement during their 25 year celebrations. Additionally, staff at Mercer & Hole have carried out a number of generous acts amongst their colleagues to celebrate the milestone event.
A wide variety of ‘Acts of Kindness’ have already been committed but there are still plenty to follow so watch this space to see what’s next!
