Daniel Bisby beats former world no.10 at Reykjavik Open chess tournament
Mercer & Hole’s Director of Trusts, Daniel Bisby left his mark in the recent Reykjavik Open chess tournament with a series of significant victories.
The Reykjavik Open is recognised as one of the top open chess tournaments in the world and attracts in the region of 250 players, including some of the youngest and most promising chess enthusiasts from all over the globe.
Daniel, a keen amateur, started the tournament with three consecutive victories. In the second round, he beat Armenian grandmaster, Sergei Movsesian, formerly ranked 10th in the world, before he took victory against another grandmaster, Italian, Axel Rombaldoni.
Beyond Rombaldoni, opponents proved too tough a match for Daniel but his earlier victories earnt him a mention in both The Financial Times and The Telegraph.
