Liz Cuthbertson is an expert on private client tax issues and has a particular interest in advising non UK domiciled individuals and the tax effective structuring of their affairs.

Liz advises a portfolio of high net worth clients on matters including wealth preservation, offshore tax planning, and inheritance tax and estate matters.

Liz is passionate about client service and likes to build strong relationships with clients, getting to know the bigger picture and what their goals are. This enables Liz to provide appropriate and comprehensive tax planning solutions that meet clients’ immediate and future circumstances.

Liz is also a qualified chartered accountant and started her accountancy career with KPMG in Hamburg, after leaving university with a degree in German and Italian. For three years she worked as an auditor on a number of large quoted businesses, working to German accounting standards, as well as UK GAAP.

It was her return to the UK in 1997, to join Coopers & Lybrand, that saw Liz’s transfer into the private client arena. Liz’s experience was broadened further during a two year period with Doughty Hanson & Co, an independent private equity firm, where she advised on tax implications of the co-investment scheme and remuneration for key executives.

Liz was appointed a partner in 2009, having joined Mercer & Hole from Tenon plc 2006.

Liz qualified as a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1997 and became a member of the Chartered Institution of Taxation in 2000.

Liz is married with a young daughter and outside of work enjoys spending time with her family.
