Marriage allowance registration
Couples who are married or in a civil partnership can register for the new married couples tax allowance which could save them up to £212 per year, the Treasury has confirmed.
From 6 April 2015, a spouse or civil partner who either does not pay tax at all or is a basic rate taxpayer can transfer up to £1,060 of their personal tax-free allowance to a spouse or civil partner. The recipient of the transfer also cannot pay more than the basic rate of income tax.
Couples can register their interest to receive the allowance now at gov.uk/marriageallowance
