How to distinguish between real and spoof HMRC emails
HMRC has recently published guidelines on how to recognise genuine HMRC contact and distinguish these from the “phishing” emails. The full guidance can be found at www.gov.uk/phishing but importantly HMRC consistently state they never request any personal, payment or tax-related information.
