Review of public benefit for fee-paying schools

A review, focusing on how fee-paying schools should provide sufficient public benefit to justify having charitable status, is to be undertaken following a successful application for a judicial review by the Independent Schools Council.

A group of senior judges will examine the Charity Commission’s guidance, available at http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk on public benefit to decide whether or not commission rulings on how fee-paying schools should meet the requirements are lawful.
